In the wake of the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals ruling that found Illinois’ outright ban (the last state to retain such a ban*) of armed self-defense unconstitutional, the St. Louis Post Dispatch editorial board acknowledged (if somewhat grudgingly) Thursday that the fight for such bans is ending, and the prohibitionists have lost
Then the article dispenses advice for “opponents of gun rights” (are there really people who openly identify themselves as “opponents of rights”?)
What Democrats (and Republicans, for that matter) who wish to ban effective militia-capable firearms need to remember is that getting voted out of office should be the least of their worries. When the people vote from the rooftops, the polls never close.
It was, likely, unintentional, but mere hours following the Newtown, CT slaughter of a classroom full of children and half-a-dozen school personnel, TV journalist Geraldo Rivera conceded that guns ought to be in America’s public schools. Near the wrap-up of a tearful discussion about the mass-murder, the colorful Fox News fixture avowed to host Bill O’Reilly that, hereafter, ”every school” ought to have a full-time police officer present to foreclose any repeat of Friday’s bloody travesty.
That is, indeed, an admission of the need for more guns. No armed criminal bent on mass murder and unobstructed butchery is afraid of an unarmed policeman. Rivera misses the implication that it would be the policeman’s gun that earns the respect and precaution.
A bespectacled educator hurling a fire extinguisher at a gun-wielding monster? A normally mild-mannered administrator going after a snarling cutthroat with a letter opener or knitting needle? Nobody would flinch at such turn of events — in fact, the heroes would be marched down main street and covered with confetti.
But suggest these same men or women ought to be urged to keep a firearm handy? The sophisticated types gasp — the same sophisticated types raging today: How can horrors like Newtown unfold in our day?!?
Without dispute, a handgun in the classroom is a blazingly politically-incorrect answer for this era — a completely sensible one, if knee-jerk, anti-gun emotionalism can be put aside, but still paralyzingly controversial.
But, so what? The “respectable” solutions keep falling short. Maybe “controversial’ and “politically incorrect” just mean: gutsy but needful. Maybe they just mean: ugly but essential.

What is Bloomberg: Idiot or a Liar?
» Bloomberg On CT Shooting: ‘It Only Happens In America’
Appearing on NBC’s “Meet The Press” today, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that the type of mass shooting that occurred at the Sandy Hook Elementary School tragedy “only happens in America.”
Host David Gregory asked the mayor for his reaction to the recent shooting in Newtown, Connecticut
Bloomberg knows that what he said is a lie. He also knows that a huge portion of Americans know that it is a lie. Did you know that there’s still a large number of Americans that are still so isolated from reality that they believed what Bloomberg just said?
From the comments, for the record:
Memo to clueless Comrade Bloomberg on some of the worst mass shootings in history in countries with strict gun control:
•July 22, 2011: Confessed mass killer Anders Behring Breivik kills 77 in Norway in twin attacks: a bombing in downtown Oslo and a shooting massacre at a youth camp outside the capital.
•April 30, 2009: Farda Gadyrov, 29, enters the prestigious Azerbaijan State Oil Academy in the capital, Baku, armed with an automatic pistol and clips. He kills 12 people before killing himself as police close in.
•Sept. 23, 2008: Matti Saari, 22, walks into a vocational college in
Kauhajoki, Finland, and opens fire, killing 10 people and burning their bodies with firebombs before shooting himself fatally in the head.
•Nov. 7, 2007: After revealing plans for his attack in YouTube postings, 18-year-old Pekka-Eric Auvinen fires kills eight people at his high school in Tuusula, Finland.
•April 26, 2002: Robert Steinhaeuser, 19, who had been expelled from school in Erfurt, Germany, kills 13 teachers, two former classmates and policeman, before committing suicide.
•April 28, 1996: Martin Bryant, 29, bursts into cafeteria in seaside resort of Port Arthur in Tasmania, Australia, shooting 20 people to death. Driving away, he kills 15 others. He was captured and imprisoned.
•March 13, 1996: Thomas Hamilton, 43, kills 16 kindergarten children and their teacher in elementary school in Dunblane, Scotland, and then kills himself.
•Dec. 6, 1989: Marc Lepine, 25, bursts into Montreal’s Ecole Polytechnique college, shooting at women he encounters, killing nine and then himself.
•Aug. 19, 1987: Michael Ryan, 27, kills 16 people in small market town of Hungerford, England, and then shoots himself dead after being cornered by police.
A customer, who is a concealed weapons permit holder, thwarted the robbery by pulling his gun and attempting to hold the men until deputies arrived. When one of the men pointed his gun at the customer, the patron fired, killing the teenager.
“The way you get shot by a concealed weapons permit holder is you point a gun at him,” the sheriff said.
The implications of this are huge. Climategate, with its evidence that the warmies were cooking the books to show AGW, was a mere embarrassment to them, one that, with the help of a compliant MSM, they were able to simply shrug off. This, however, directly undercuts the validity of their anthropogenic (man-made) global warming theory.
True, the IPCC finding does not come close to definitively answering questions about what drives climate, but what it does do is provide a very sound basis for the proposition that it is not human emissions of carbon dioxide causing the climate change – or in the case of the past 16 years, the lack thereof. It should allow all bankrupting efforts by governments to shut down carbon admissions to be challenged – and given that our nation just re-elected Obama, the importance of that cannot be over-estimated.
Considering the magnitude of the regulatory measures of the federal government – to control the global-warming – that does not exist – this story should be the top headline in all publications and broadcasts. But not a peep.
The leak of the IPCC report in conjunction with the climategate scandal should have put the climate-change, globalZ-warmZ debate 12 feet under ground, with Al Gore rotting in prison and the U.N. building bulldozed.
By now, we should be growing tired of the repeated apologies from National Geographic, Discovery Channel and the big three ‘news’ hawkers for having saturated us with AGW lies for the past how many decades.
But no admissions, no apologies, no indictments, no mea-culpas …. not even a mention. Instead we’re facing far more regulations, restrictions and poverty and ….
We Get What We Tolerate
» Obama To Troops: Don’t Insult The Taliban
…. a draft Army handbook advises troops against insulting not just sacred Islamic figures but the Taliban themselves. The 75-page manual lists among “taboo topics” of conversation between U.S. troops and their Afghan counterparts “making derogatory comments about the Taliban.”
Also off-limits: “advocating women’s rights,” “any criticism of pedophilia,” “mentioning homosexuality and homosexual conduct” or “anything related to Islam.”
The New York Post reported in September that to avoid offending Afghans, U.S. commanders are putting troops through intense Muslim sensitivity training. Among other things, they’ve been ordered to:
• Wear surgical gloves when handling the Quran.
• Never walk in front of a praying Muslim.
• Never show the bottom of boots while sitting or lying across from a Muslim, which in Islam is considered an insult.
• Never share photos of wives or daughters.
• Never smoke or eat in front of Muslims during the monthlong Ramadan fasting.
• Avoid winking, cursing or nose-blowing in the presence of Muslims — all viewed as insults in Islam.
• Avoid exiting the shower without a towel.
• Avoid offering and accepting things with the left hand, which in Islam is reserved for bodily hygiene.
Back when our military was commanded by people with testicals, I think, the orders would have been much simpler: Dead muslims cannot be offended.
We are not safe as long as the U.N. exists.
Activists worldwide were celebrating after a United Nations conference, which was seeking to hand control over the Internet to an obscure UN agency known as the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and its mostly dictatorial member regimes, ended in failure when a coalition of Western governments refused to back the schemes. However, analysts are warning that serious threats to the free and open Internet by the UN and a broad alliance of its authoritarian members are far from over.
Elections have consequences. The president signed a law which forces citizens to purchase a product simply on the virtue that they are alive. Our Supreme Court upheld the law, giving the government the power to tax inactivity.
…. The hospital informed us that this is a fairly new operation perfected over just the last five years. However: this surgery will “cease to be available in two years for insurance patients due to ObamaCare.” This is a quote from the flustered nurse at the hospital.
This plan pays all costs incurred after the deductible, provided the services are provided in-network. The plan goes away in 2014 as a result of the health law. The best new plans to replace this will pay for 90% after deductible, and will cost more. If our daughter was born just two years later we would pay more for insurance, have inferior treatment options, and be triaged (meaning delayed) for treatment. That, in my mind, is regressive. It is not progressive as many would have us believe.
Ayers’ call to action is precisely why we see bizarre things like the California Federation of Teachers’ “Tax the Rich” video or Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel – of all people – being labeled a “fat cat” by the Chicago Teachers Union.
Ayers’ acknowledgement that radical leftists are using classrooms and public spaces to influence children should be a wakeup call to every parent and taxpayer. Educators are paid to teach kids to read, write and think for themselves, not to brainwash them in revolutionary ideology.
Ayers is not an educator. He’s an unconvicted terrorist who wants to use our tax money to further his goal of destroying the greatest nation in the history of the world. And he’s calling on the people teaching your children to assist him.
If we are smart, we will use our leverage as taxpayers to stop this nonsense in its tracks, before it becomes an even bigger problem.
Because those “bigger problems”, if solvable, will be so only through the leverage of trigger fingers.
via Gun Control Fact-Sheet 2004 / From Gun Owners Foundation
Researcher Don Kates reveals that all available data now indicates that the “home gun homicide victims [in the flawed study] were killed using guns not kept in the victim’s home.”
In other words, the victims were NOT murdered with their own guns! They were killed “by intruders who brought their own guns to the victim’s household.”(17)

Imagine the Crips and the Bloods, armed to the teeth by every country from Mexico to China, fighting over the ruins of California cities, and you get some idea of the glorious Syrian civil war being fought by the Brave Syrian People, most of whom at this point are about as Syrian as the Palestinians are from Palestine, in a conflict that will determine once and for all who will be ethnically cleansing who this year.
It’s not your imagination; our liberal ruling class corrupts children deliberately. No doubt there could be more sophisticated explanations of their motivations, but let’s just apply Occam’s razor and call it evil for the sake of evil.
The coming push to aggressively over-represent homosexuals as well as blacks on TV will mean many an opportunity for Jamie Foxx, who recently basked in applause after extolling the killing of Caucasians on Saturday Night Live, and who stars in an upcoming movie as a hero who proclaims, “Kill white folks and they pay you for it — What’s not to like?”
Foxx says, “‘Every single thing in my life is built around race.” No doubt he owes his fame and fortune to race, but there is more to his life; he is said to be what they call on the down low — i.e., furtively homosexual.
