» There Is No Ceasefire

In the language of diplomacy, ceasefire does not mean that the rockets will stop falling and peace does not mean an end to the violence. They mean only that Israel is not allowed to fight back when the rockets fall and the bombs go off. Peace does not mean an absence of killing; what it means is that the terrorists are the only ones allowed to kill.
….
The diplomats got their way with the ceasefire, as they got their way in 1948, 1956, 1967, 1973, 1982 and 1991; and countless other dates since that great triumph of diplomacy filled Israel to the brim with terrorists in the name of a peace that has never been a peace.

On September 13, 1993, Rabin and Arafat shook hands in the Rose Garden under the beaming gaze of Bill Clinton, eager to inaugurate a new era of peace. Eleven days after the onset of peace, terrorists murdered their first Israeli. He was not the last to die in the era of the peace that was not a peace.

….
Obama has played his game well, saying one thing, while doing another, mouthing his support while driving Israel back into the bloody peace of the ceasefire. And so there is peace again. The peace of the rocket aimed at a school and the peace of the bus bombing. The peace of television programs teaching children to kill Jews and the peace of rockets being smuggled through tunnels. The peace of knives in the dark and bullets fired at cars on lonely roads. The peace of mosques that cry, “Death to the Jews” and the peace of terrorists going about their industry of death.

This is the peace that Obama has given Israel with his ceasefire. The peace of victimhood. The peace of death.

» Obama Administration to Go After Retirement Accounts

There were always warnings …. that you can trust the communists . . . to be communists.

…..
In a similar way, you can trust liberals to always be liberals or progressives. They will always push taxing and spending policies. We’re seeing more of the consistency of liberals in their call from removing the debt ceiling and the daily insistence that taxes must be raised in the rich so they can pay their “fair share,” a plank, by the way, that’s taken right out of the Communist Manifesto.

….
When liberals agreed to set up retirement accounts where taxation could be postponed, a lot of people were skeptical. Why would any liberal agree to such a thing? Now we’re beginning to hear rumblings about the possibility that the Obama administration is looking at the trillions of dollars of potential revenue in these accounts ….

» A Carbon Copy of a Bad Idea

Karl Rove hadn’t stopped arguing over the Ohio result when various voices affiliated with the losing party …. began suggesting that a carbon tax was a really good idea going forward.

…. a carbon tax that is set high enough to significantly affect emissions would be devastating to American household budgets. A lower carbon tax will have no noticeable effect on emissions

And all of that is based on the acceptance of an assumption of unfounded suspicion that there is global warming and that it’s caused by humans.

…. even a complete elimination of U.S. carbon emissions today would not detectably affect global temperatures or sea level in 2050 or 2100. Only a globally harmonized carbon tax could do anything to reduce emissions to the levels which alarmist scientists say are necessary, and the experience of the failed Kyoto Protocol shows that developing nations will not accept anything that reduces their prospects for economic growth. Therefore, a U.S. carbon tax will not do anything to stave off or even mitigate whatever threat global warming might present.

…. with the fiscal cliff fast approaching, some have abandoned these arguments and instead are pushing for a carbon tax as a revenue enhancer.

And there is the crux.
As always, the entire globsee-warmsee scam is about revenue – whether it’s revenue for pompous parasitic debutantes like Al Gore or the parasitic bureaucracies of government.

Forces like Exxon Mobil are now lining up behind a carbon tax — because they would not have to pay it. Conservatives should remain true to their principles and oppose this carbon copy of a bad idea.

» Militant Muslims Cutting Out Tongues

Currently on trial for libel and defamation of female Egyptian artist Elham Shahin—whom, among many other derogatory statements, he called a “whore”—an unrepentant Badr, appeared again on TV, and made the following oath:

I have sworn to Allah, that any dog—for that is how Allah described them, for they are like dogs that are constantly panting—that any dog who mocks the Sharia, or mocks Islam, or blames it, we will cut his tongue out, I’m saying it here: We will cut his tongue out! That’s it. The time of transgressing against Islam, and speaking insolence, has passed—it’s over. Today, the People of Lies [code for secular people] defend their falsehoods with great zeal; so shall we will defend Islam with all our might—no matter what it costs, no matter what it costs! I’m saying it here and now: Let the whole world burn, but Islam not be mocked.

Days after Dr. Badr made these pronouncements, on October 30, a roaming band of Salafis in Suez attacked and severely beat a young Egyptian grocery store worker, and even tried to cut off his hand, because he prevented one of their gang from using the store bathroom without permission, to which the bearded Salafi had responded: “I do not ask for permission.”

As apologies go, this one is an indication that a whole lot of people don't understand the implications and prerequisites of a sincere apology.

» Jane Fonda Finally Apologizes

It only took 40 years. But finally, actress-turned-workout-specialist [Hanoi] Jane Fonda has apologized for sitting on a Viet Cong anti-aircraft gun during her 1972 visit to North Vietnam.

Not good enough. The fact that she was in North Vietnam in the first place has earned her the noose. Apologizing for the AA gun thing simply reduces the probability of wearing lead shoes at her hanging.

.... she proceeded to blame the US for supposedly bombing a dike system, and did a series of radio broadcasts stating that US leaders were “war criminals.” Those broadcasts were replayed for American POWs being tortured by the Viet Cong. Later, when POWs spoke about their experiences of torture, Fonda would call them “hypocrites and liars,” stating, “These were not men who had been tortured. These were not men who had been starved. These were not men who had been brainwashed.” She explained that these POWs were “careerists and professional killers.”

.... in Hollywood, being such a propagandist merely endears you to elites, as Sean Penn can tell you.

As far as I can tell, this movie is Moonbat Free! Enjoy.

» Let Obama be Obama

The current battle over the budget hinges on whether to return to the Clinton-era income tax rates, at least for those who make more than $250,000 a year. Allowing federal income rates to climb to near 40 percent on that cohort would bring in only about $80 billion in revenue a year — a drop in the bucket when set against the $1.3 trillion annual deficit that grew almost entirely from out-of-control spending since 2009.

Stop! I'll play the devil's goofy advocate here. If my math is right and I can make some unreasonable assumptions:

$80 billion is 6.15% of $1.3 trillion.
According to How many drops of water in one gallon?, there's 90840 drops in a gallon. So assuming a one gallon bucket then one drop is 0.0011% of the bucket.
So $80 billion is equivalent to around 5600 drops in the bucket.

Of course, the assumptions being made are that a bucket is one gallon and $1.3 trillion is all we have to worry about. Either of those assumptions is pretty dang stupid. Even if the annual deficit is only $1.3 trillion that doesn't take into account the debt of ... uh ... $5 trillion? 8 trillion? 14? Dang, I don't know. Does anybody? I do know that the interest alone on the debt is more than the deficit, which means taxing the life out of the so-called rich wouldn't even pay the interest.

That was a silly exercise, eh? Extraordinarily silly. Yet, as profound as the games being played by this administration.

Instead, why not agree to hike federal income tax rates only on the true “millionaires and billionaires,” “fat cats” and “corporate jet owners” whom Obama has so constantly demonized? In other words, skip over the tire-store owner or dentist, and tax those, for example, who make $1 million or more in annual income. Eight out of the 10 wealthiest counties in the United States voted for Obama. Corporate lawyers and the affluent in Hollywood and on Wall Street should all not mind “paying their fair share.”

....
Likewise, instead of hiking death taxes on small businesspeople, why not close loopholes for billion-dollar estates by taxing their gargantuan bequests to pet foundations that avoid estate taxes. Why should a Warren Buffett or Bill Gates act as if he built his own business and can solely determine how his fat-cat fortune is spent for the next century — meanwhile robbing the government of billions of dollars in lost estate taxes along with any federal say in how such fortunes are put to public use?

Obamacare will be imposed on all Americans by 2014. But so far the Obama administration has granted more than 1,200 exemptions to favored corporations and unions, covering about 4 million Americans. Shouldn’t Republicans seek to end all exemptions rather than tackle the improbable task of overturning Obamacare itself? Their motto should be: “Equality for all; special treatment for no one!”

Republicans should agree to let the chips lie where they fall: Tax only the truly rich; reward only the truly deserving illegal immigrants; and exempt no one from Obamacare.

» Egypt's Morsi Takes Dictatorial Powers

Egypt's president on Thursday issued constitutional amendments that placed him above judicial oversight

....
The Egyptian leader also decreed that all decisions he has made since taking office ....... are not subject to appeal in court or by any other authority.

....
The moves effectively remove any oversight on Morsi, the longtime Muslim Brotherhood figure who became Egypt's first freely elected president last summer after the Feb. 11, 2011 fall of autocrat Hosni Mubarak. They come as Morsi is riding high on lavish praise from President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton for mediating an end to eight days of fighting between Israel and Gaza's Hamas rulers

(THHO)Obama is soooo jealous .....

.... airport officials warned those traveling between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to arrive an hour and a half ahead of their normal schedule

Question: How many LAX workers that shut down airports on holidays have had their butts whipped in public by pissed off travelers?
Answer: None.
And there ya go.

» Gov't Tells Americans What to Discuss at Holiday Dinner; Declares Thanksgiving 'Family Health History Day'

Aside from the by-now-familiar tips on safe food handling and turkey cooking times (found at the USA.gov website), the advice is flowing freely from the the U.S. government this Thanksgiving.

....
The Transportation Department wants you to "buckle up and slow down," .... the Food and Drug Administration wants you to store your medications safely .... the surgeon-general wants you to "create a family health portrait" .... the U.S. Agriculture Department wants you to "sample local businesses"

What is it about government employment that makes one feel parental to their employers? My first reaction to this is to yell at somebody that I don't need the government to tell me how to tie my shoes. But then I realize that I'm not part of the brain-dead herd of Obamabots that this motherly advice is directed at .... and so I wonder if there are people out there that require someone to tell them to breath.
Ok, no, I don't actually wonder.
