The average student under 30 owes around 20,000 dollars as education has become the new mortgage.
Senior citizens who came of age in the age when college became universalized are having their social security payments reduced to cover their student loan debts proving that a college education really does last for a lifetime.
….
The modern educational system has a surplus of learning, mainly purposeless learning. The average graduate of the four-year college has spent a great deal of money and learned very little of any use to him or to anyone else. By the end he may have learned to calculate interest rates, if only through necessity. Despite all the pablum about preparing the next generation for the future, he is in no way more empowered than he was four years ago. Often he is more disempowered by debt.
….
Meta-culture is even more useless as it is aimed at internalizing the specialized vocabularies created through categorizing culture to group identities. It is not only a useless egotistical exercise, but also quite pernicious as well. Analyzing analyses of culture and then critiquing them for political conformity used to be for aspiring Marxist poets singing marching songs from the Spanish Civil War. Now it’s for everyone. Ten years from now, we will spending three times as much on education and most students will have trouble with basic math and literacy, but will immediately be able to look at a Bugs Bunny cartoon and determine whose narrative it privileges. (Hint: White men.)
» Denver Public Schools pilot program to push ‘social action,’ ‘social justice’
In addition to reading, writing, and arithmetic, the Denver public schools system are adding a fourth ‘r’ to the curriculum: rebellion.
According to NBC affiliate KUSA, Denver Public Schools is implementing a new system to evaluate teachers. In order to achieve a coveted “distinguished” rating, teachers at each grade level must show that they “encourage” students to “challenge and question the dominant culture” and “take social action to change/improve society or work for social justice.”
In April, the U.S. Department of Energy and an international consortium of major oil and gas companies completed an unprecedented two-month proof-of-concept test in the North Slope of Alaska. The experiment was supposed to show that a steady flow of methane molecules could be extracted from a substance known as methane or gas hydrates submerged under the sea floor.
No expert am I, but this sounds like they’re sucking methane right out of seawater. (?) And is methane not one of those evil environmental poisons that leftist moonbats are always terrorized by? It seeps out of the mud at the bottom, bubbles up to the surface, dissipates into the atmosphere and kills polar bears, so extracting it from the mud and burning it would be …. a good thing? No. No, only if the burning was done in a way that humans could not benefit.
It’ll be a while, but (if western civilization manages to continue) watch and see if the moonbats don’t try to shut it down.

We all knew it was coming. We can now, confidently and with justification, replace the phrase “slippery slope” with “free fall.” A slope implies the possibility of catching oneself on a rock or a sapling and climbing back up; a free fall is inevitable.
Bless their hearts, but why must they so publicly flaunt their private parts? It’s hard to take these poster chicks for the Nanny State seriously when they look and sound like walking, talking gynecological checkups. Dressing as life-sized genitals, ranting about their entitlement to taxpayer-subsidized birth control, defining women as bio-objects and reducing “women’s issues” to sex without consequences: This is progress?
The people that say they will not vote for the lesser of two evils will get one of the two evils whether they vote or not. In this election, they may get the greater of two evils. And it’s not just the greater evil of one man we may get, but we may get the greater of two evils when it comes to judges, new laws, executive orders, wealth confiscation, and a whole lot more. The past four years should be a wake-up call to the no lesser than two evils crowd.
….
The lesser of two evils franchise will say that they will be “sending a message.” Yeah, that they’re idiots.

Calif. Judge Tosses Out PETA Lawsuit Against California ‘Happy Cows’ Ads
…. when America slides off the cliff it lands with a much bigger thud than Greece or Iceland. I’m not certain that the Republicans will be able to prevent that happening. But I know that the Democrats can’t. America owes more money than anybody has ever owed anyone in the history of the planet. But millions of Americans don’t see it, and millions of those who do see it don’t see it as a problem.
…. what’s strange is that so many people don’t find it strange at all — that at a critical moment in the affairs of the republic the ruling party should assemble to listen to a complacent 31-year-old child of privilege peddling the lazy cobwebbed assumptions of myopic narcissism.
