Where Did All The Money Go?
How The $825 Billion Stimulus Was Spent In Your State Over The Past Three Years

GOP.com released a research briefing that enumerates the use of stimulus funds by all the states. It’s a big document, and I haven’t found it online yet. So for now, you can see the PDF here.

While not as bad as some states, North Carolina is guilty.

Stimulus money wasted by North Carolina:

$39 Million From The Stimulus To Cree, Inc., Which Soon After Opened Its First Factory Outside North America In Huizhou, China, Which Has More Than Half Of Cree’s Employees And “Will Continue To Expand.” (Jared Bernstein, “Recovery Act In Action #4: A 48C Story,” WhiteHouse.gov, 3/24/10; Tim Whitaker, “Cree Opens LED Chip Manufacturing Facility In Huizhou,” LEDs Magazine, 12/13/10)

$4.4 Million To Hire Math And Literacy Coaches, Not For Students, But Teachers. “North Carolina public schools received $4.4 million to hire math and literacy coaches, not for students, but teachers. That’s 64 people paid $70,000 each to teach teachers how to teach reading and math.” (William La Jeunesse, “Millions In Stimulus Spending Being Doled Out For Questionable Jobs, FOX News 2/04/10)

$1.2 Million To Renovate A Decommissioned Lighthouse. “The Roanoke River Lighthouse was decommissioned in 1940 and is one of the last lighthouses still standing on an inland waterway. The North Carolina Department of Transportation awarded $1.2 million to renovate the lighthouse, which now sits on Edenton’s historic waterfront.” (“Some Question Stimulus Projects’ Impact On N.C.,” WRAL, 9/30/09)

$147,694 To Study Prevention Of Hot Flashes Through Yoga. “Reducing hot flashes through yoga: $147,694. Funds granted to Wake Forest University to study ‘preliminary data on the efficacy of integral yoga for reducing menopausal hot flashes.’” (Brian Balfour, “Hot Flashes, Dead Bugs, And Cocaine For Monkeys: The 10 Worst Federal Stimulus Projects In North Carolina,” Civitas Institute, 2/5/10)

$71,623 To Study Cocaine Use By Monkeys. “Study of monkeys using cocaine: $71,623. Wake Forest University was granted money to ‘study the effects of self-administering cocaine on the glutamate system on monkeys.’” (Brian Balfour, “Hot Flashes, Dead Bugs, And Cocaine For Monkeys: The 10 Worst Federal Stimulus Projects In North Carolina,” Civitas Institute, 2/5/10)

Stimulus Funds For A North Carolina Town To Hire Someone To “Procure More Stimulus Funds.” “One town in North Carolina is using stimulus funds to hire an administrator whose job will be to procure more stimulus funds, according to the report.” (Peter Nicholas, “Stimulus Program Fraught With Waste Report Says,” The Los Angeles Times, 6/15/09)

Boy, am I dumb. Why didn’t I cash in on the GlobalWarmie hoax? I didn’t even try to get government money to build myself a wind farm that the government would then pay me not to use.

» Obama regime to Congress: We’ll tell you what we’re doing with military force

Defense Secretary Leon Panetta told Senators the administration would seek UN or NATO approval for the deployment of U.S. forces overseas while deciding whether or not it would seek approval from Congress

…. our goal would be to seek international permission and we would …come to the Congress and inform you and determine how best to approach this, whether or not we would want to get permission from the Congress ….

For all those who screamed, hollered and pitched hissy fits over ‘illegal war’ during the Bush terms – have you nothing to say now? Where’s the righteous indignation now? Eh? Now – when a POTUS is actually doing what a POTUS has been accused of?
In case you missed it, or your memory is as shallow as your patriotism …. Bush got permission. From Congress.

Panetta responded by saying he would seek permission from either NATO or the UN while never mentioning the U.S Congress.
….
Obama is bypassing Congress every chance he can to do whatever he wants. He did it in Libya and then never complied with the War Powers Act, and I’d expect he’d do that again. He is a totalitarian, it’s just that simple

A Question that should have been a statement:
» Was Soledad O’Brien Bailed Out by Producers on Critical Race Theory Definition?

CNN’s Soledad O’Brien’s venomously sarcastic interview with Breitbart.com editor-in-chief Joel Pollak culminated with her throwing out her definition of “Critical Race Theory” in the heat of her interview over the Obama/Bell Tapes . Pollak had already requested that O’Brien define the term more than once, and at the 1:45 mark in the video, she finally does. One problem–O’Brien’s definition appears to be lifted almost word-for-word from a wikipedia page, presumedly hurriedly communicated to Soledad in the midst of her interview.

That’s one of the pitfalls of being a parrot – reading the party script can really make you look stupid if someone asks a question not covered by the script. Especially when the parrot’s knowledge is strictly limited to the script. But don’t worry Polly, if you muck it up they’ll just edit the script to match your improvisations.

Throughout the day, there have been numerous edits to the wikipedia entry for “Critical Race Theory,” including the elimination of “white supremacy” as a key element (an element referenced by Joel Pollak during his interview with Soledad O’Brien and the existence of which O’Brien scoffed at throughout their conversation). At the time of this update, there had been 26 changes today alone; up until today, the last edit had been mid-February, and before that, just one in January.

Deny, deny, deny! It’s the liberal creed.

» Iran suspected of trying to scrub Parchin’s nuclear residue

Three days ago, the IAEA reported unusual activity at Iran’s Parchin military base outside Tehran, the base where it has long been suspected that Iran was developing nuclear weapons. As part of Iran’s offer to renew talks with the P-5+1 earlier this week, it agreed to allow IAEA inspectors into Parchin. Now, satellite photographs show what’s going on at Parchin: In preparation for an IAEA visit, Iran is trying to scrub the place clean… of nuclear waste.
Two of the diplomats told The Associated Press that those traces could have come from what they said was the testing of a small neutron trigger used to set off a nuclear explosion. A third diplomat could not confirm that, but says any testing of a so-called neutron initiator at the site could only be in the context of trying to develop nuclear arms.

Well, the answer to that question depends upon who you ask.
If you ask the victim, the answer is yes.
If you ask the perpetrators, the answer is yes.
If … wait. Why are we still asking stupid questions?

» Your Liberal Outrage Boycott Target of the Day: Randi Rhodes

Hi there, liberals! I know you’re not a bunch of phony, hypocritical, lying, hate-mongering, totalitarian jackasses, so you’re working really hard on getting Mike Malloy off the air for his disgusting comments earlier this week, and boycotting the Washington Post’s advertisers until they censure columnist Richard Cohen for saying all conservatives have problems with sex.

I’ve got something else to throw on your plate. You should be able to make short work of this one, because the deeply offensive host in question doesn’t have much of an audience. Her advertisers shouldn’t be difficult to knock off, since they wont’ really be losing much exposure by pulling out of her show.

» Why the left’s war on Rush Limbaugh and free speech will backfire

…. liberals think they have their “silver bullet,” the one thing that will ultimately rid them of the man they have hated for more than two decades.

If they can remove Limbaugh – arguably the most powerful conservative voice on talk radio – they can remove anyone with whom they disagree.

There’s only one problem.

Their hypocrisy is awakening a sleeping giant.

Yea, but how many times do we have to wake that giant before it gets off it’s butt and starts stomping ??
