SEALS Kick Butt
And now SEALS are kicking Hollywood’s butt.
I can’t hardly think of any one group that deserves it more.

» BOX OFFICE: ‘Act Of Valor’ #1 With $24.7M Weekend
» TV review: Oscar’s wishful thinking

Morgan Freeman came out and announced that show would “celebrate the present and look back on the [film industry’s] glorious past.”

~~ via HotAir : Act of Valor SEALs the deal at the box office

The rest of these films [Stop Loss, Green Zone, The Kingdom, and Jarhead] betrayed a deep hostility toward the military and/or the Bush administration, which audiences can get for free simply by turning on MSNBC. Why go to the box office and pay for the lecture?

I haven’t seen Act of Valor yet (I will), nor have I spent any time learning what the plot is about. I’m guessing it has to do with terrorists and, if that guess is correct then I’m also guessing that this film does portray the terrorists as non-Arab and non-muslim.
Also, I’d guess that it doesn’t portray our military as a bunch of raping, pillaging, murdering mercenaries.
I could be wrong. Don’t tell me, I want it to be a surprise.

I really, really like a good movie. But I really, really look forward to the day when people say “Holly-Who?”

» The Very Last Picture Show

While Hollywood was always fairly liberal, as the theater tends to be, liberals had not yet cut their ties with the country. They did not live so fundamentally differently that they were unable to make compelling stories that spoke to them and to their audiences. But it is hard to make movies for a people from another culture. The movies that speak to liberals translate badly to ordinary Americans.
Few people can name the best picture winners from more than a year or two ago. And that even includes people in the industry. Naming the nominees is a laborious task. Watching them a year or two later is rarely done, because for all their “merit”, they are not very good movies. Having seen them once, there is no real reason to watch them again.

Twenty years from now, how many people will be watching Slumdog Millionaire, Frost/Nixon, Milk, The Reader or The Curious Case of Benjamin Button? For that matter how many people would watch them now? If you are wondering what that list is, it’s the Best Picture nominees from 2008. The nominees from this year will be equally obscure a few years from now.

» Arizona bill to establish border security militia draws CSGV’s fear and loathing

Groups like CSGV never tire of arguing that (the Supreme Court’s Heller ruling to the contrary notwithstanding) that the Second Amendment’s guarantee of the right to keep and bear arms applies only to a government-sanctioned militia. Now, though, when there is talk of the formation of new state militias, they scream about the “insurrectionist” threat posed by that.

Which gives more weight to my argument: it’s not about the interpretation of the second amendment. The anti-gun bigots are determined to disarm the American people and have tried to push misinterpretation of the constitution as a tool. This is just an example of their tactical two-stepping. They don’t give a quack about militias, or any abstract version of the constitution.

They want your guns. The only question you need to ask yourself is why do they want you defenseless? Why do the commie rat-bastards want you unable to fulfill the true purpose of the second amendment?

When you answer that question, all the talking points and side issues – the entire debate becomes moot.

Hardly worth reporting.
» White House blames Bush for Afghanistan turmoil
Didn’t we all know that already? It’s as expected as the sun rising that (THHO)Obama is going to blame something on Bush today.
His BlameBush Card is now almost as tattered and worn as his Race Card.

(THHO)Obama reveals his loyalties.

The Obama administration’s proposed defense budget calls for military families and retirees to pay sharply more for their healthcare, while leaving unionized civilian defense workers’ benefits untouched.
