» Obama Has Failed The Border States. Is It Time To Form Posses To Battle Drug Cartels?

While the federal government under Barack Obama is refusing to combat the cartels—which are, after all, heavily armed by firearms that the ATF provided and the DOJ refuses to account for—local police seem to be left largely on their own in the border regions to defend the citizenry as cartels surge across an undefended southern border.
Interestingly enough, Dave Kopel provides the constitutional mechanism to supply the manpower to turn back this tide with or without the support of a corrupt and feckless federal government, in the use of the modern posse comitatus
… the “power of the county” does indeed dovetail with the Second Amendment

» Federal court: police can break down door and seize guns without warrant or charges

The 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ruled that it is not a violation of constitutional rights if police break down a citizen’s door, search the home, and confiscate firearms, so long that they believe it is in the citizen’s best interest.

» ATF’s rifle sales reporting requirement shenanigans look stranger all the time

The requirement, dating back to 2011, calls for gun dealers in the states of California, New Mexico, Arizona and Texas to report to the BATFE every time they sell more than one semi-automatic, detachable magazine-fed rifle over .22 caliber to the same purchaser within five days.

… alert reader Chris Meissen noticed another qualifier that was in the original proposal, and missing in the current one. In this proposal, there is no mention that the multiple sales have to be to the same purchaser, as is explicitly stated in the original proposal. In other words, if the BATFE gets its way, it can demand sales details from every gun store that sells two or more so-called “assault weapons” in a five-day period–no matter if each is sold to separate purchasers.

Again, why change the language of the proposal, unless you are proposing something different? And again, even if the BATFE is not seeking the power to enforce such a requirement, if the proposal is approved, they will have it–and this is not an organization known for refraining from use of every bit of power it can get its hands on.

LESSON NO. 1: If a bureaucrat, or a soldier sent by a bureaucrat, comes to knock down your door and take you someplace you do not want to go because of who you are or what you think — kill him. If you can, kill the politician who sent him.

LESSON NO. 2: If a bureaucrat, or a soldier sent by a bureaucrat, comes to knock down your door and confiscate your firearms — kill him. The disarmament of law-abiding citizens is the required precursor to genocide.

LESSON NO. 3: If a bureaucrat tells you that he must know if you have a firearm so he can put your name on a list for the common good, or wants to issue you an identity card so that you be more easily identified — tell him to go to hell.

LESSON NO. 5: Our constitutional republic as crafted by the Founders is the worst form of government in the world, except when compared to all the others. Capitalism, as well, is a terrible way to run an economy, except when compared to all other economic systems.

LESSON NO. 6: While nations do not always get the leaders they deserve, they always get the leaders they tolerate.

Say what you will about the Obama White House’s passive indifference to everything from the Department of Veterans Affairs to Americans taking fire on foreign soil, but their political spin team moves like lightning

… if you’ve got the attention span to resist Obama’s efforts to drag this story out until it fades away, you’ll recall how much emphasis the White House placed on their phony excuses about the CIA misleading them on the matter of the Video of Doom. President Obama, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, and Vice President Joe Biden were happy to throw the intelligence community under the bus – they made a really big deal about it during the last month of the 2012 election. And here’s a smoking-gun memo that proves none of their excuses were ever true; they were hustling that Spontaneous Video Protest story while the attack was still in progress, at a moment when nobody on the ground in Libya thought the video was more than an extremely tangential part of the situation, at best.

Everything we’ve learned over the past few years, including these latest revelations, is consistent with a President and Secretary of State who put politics and the 2012 election campaign over everything else, including the lives of the Americans under attack… because they were calling YouTube to rail about the video before the terrorists’ guns fell silent. Nobody did anything to even try helping the people who were taking fire, but they had time to hassle YouTube?

The American people needed to know that Barack Obama and his people think about politics and spin first when a crisis hits, before they voted in November 2012. It is a dereliction of the media’s duty that the true story was obscured until after the election was over.

» Eric Holder Was Right We are a nation of cowards.

One wonders at what point “startling honesty” became a bad thing …

By its very nature, honesty will not always yield pretty results, nor is it likely invariably to satisfy the claims of the zeitgeist; human nature being fallible, anybody charged with revealing his soul will almost certainly impart sincerely acquired misinformation, a good dose of old-fashioned irrationality, and a reliance upon stereotypes; and, conversations being organic and unpredictable things, any discussion that ranges into uncharted or precarious territory is certain to bring up topics that societies tend to prefer to keep quiet. Do we want that or do we not?

Apparently, we do not.

the cynics are right when they claim that the sort of people who call for a “dialogue” in this area really want to hear a lecture, and that those who are ostensibly seeking merely to arrange a forum in which they can ask people what they think wish only that the people with the wrong views will out themselves with sufficient probity that they might be pilloried in public.

… Who among us will bare our souls if only to have stakes driven through them by our self-appointed judges? Not Mark Cuban. Not me. Not anybody else in the nation of cowards.

» White Privilege: Uh … It’s More Like Radical Gay, Black and Muslim Privilege

… if I liked to check Jethro’s oil like say … uh … Clay Aiken does, I could call a perceived enemy female political pundit the “C” word in a tweet and encourage people to punch her in the face — and I could still be the media’s darling, run for Congress and actually have a chance in Hades of winning after such abhorrent behavior.

Wouldn’t it also be kinda cool to lambaste a basketball team owner and a cattleman as vile racists, all the while having a more revolting track record and a recent video of one’s self saying substantially worse things, and walk away unscathed like Al Sharpton does on a regular basis?

It would also be neat to demand that people bow to my beliefs and change everything they do to accommodate my faith like Islam does. If they don’t like bacon, Kate Upton’s ample assets, women being educated or Pharrell’s song “Happy”, then, by Allah, curtsy and kiss the ring. But that ain’t happening for me because no one gives a crap about what a Reformed Presbyterian wants or is offended by.

The delaying tactics are painfully obvious. In one voice, everyone from President Obama and Secretary for Veterans Affairs Eric Shinseki, to Administration flacks and congressional Democrats, is saying: slow down, wait for more reports, forget about this story, stop asking what Obama’s been doing for the last five years.

The endgame is easy to see: crucial news cycles will roll by with friendly media having nothing fresh to report – because we’ve got to wait for more studies and reports before jumping to any conclusions, don’t you know! – and the tides of the 24-hour news grind will wash the whole thing away. It’s Fast and Furious, Benghazi, ObamaCare, and the IRS scandal all over again, except it’s even more transparent this time.

» The Slow, Sure Death of “Climate Change” Lies

Obama is on record saying that climate change “once considered an issue for the distant future, has moved firmly into the present” and is “affecting Americans right now.” Climate change as studied by climatologists is measured in terms of centuries whereas the weather is what is happening today. It has been happening before and since the rise of civilization. Obama’s claim that “climate-related changes are outside of recent experience” and “have become more frequent and/or intense” is a lie from start to finish.
… A cooling cycle that began around fourteen years ago could lead to another mini-ice age or the planet could be on the cusp of a full-fledged one. On average, the interglacial periods of the Earth have lasted about 11,500 years and we are at the end of such a period.
… It makes one wish that all the talk about “greenhouse gases” is true enough to help us escape from the present cooling.

» Louis Farrakhan Supporter, John Conyers, Back on Ballot: Used Non-Registered Voters, Oh Well…

Remember the 2012 presidential elections when Republican presidential candidates Rick Perry, Rick Santorum, Jon Huntsman and Newt Gingrich failed to receive the required 10,000 signatures for a ballot placement in the important state of Virginia? They did not end up on the ballot, but Democrats in Michigan have better fortunes. Congressman John Conyers, running for yet another opportunity to screw the American people through his congressional privilege, allowed non-registered voters to circulate petitions gathering names for his run, and — the petitions failed to get the required 1,000 VALID signatures. After the INVALID names were removed, Conyers had only about 400 presumed VALID names. The petitions were still circulated by unqualified persons. The Michigan Secretary of State said Conyers’ name would not be on the ballot and cited the state’s “purity of the ballot access process,” but a Detroit federal judge cited Conyers’ “good intentions.” Guess who won.

» Tulsa Police Capt Paul Fields Loses Lawsuit Over Not Attending “Discover Islam Classes for Non-Muslims”

Captain Paul Fields has lost his court battle in the Tenth Circuit, Paul Fields v. City of Tulsa, addressing his refusal to attend the Masjid al-Salam mosque for their self-described “Discover Islam Classes for Non-Musims.” Captain Fields was ordered to attend a learning (enlightenment) event at the mosque in 2011. Fields has been a model police officer for 17 years, yet was permanently demoted for his Christian beliefs. The higher court refused to consider his “religious objection” claim ….

» AN OPEN LETTER TO REP. MICHELE BACHMANN: Crime, Lies, and Hillary Clinton

Why is this letter addressed to Rep. Michele Bachmann? Because she is one of the few members of Congress with the courage and stamina to stand up to the Beltway elites in both parties. She isn’t running for reelection, so she presumably doesn’t care whose feathers she ruffles.
