» Reason for Encouragement: Turning the Tide with the Gun Culture
Think back only a few months to the murders at Sandy Hook. That is when the anti-gun media launched every smear they could imagine. The media is nothing if not creative when they want to make up a story. Anti-gun billionaires also threw millions of dollars into politics as they supported anti-gun politicians and anti-gun legislation. Their tactics worked in a few states, and failed miserably in most. There has been a backlash in support of the human right of self-defense. The “we will not comply” movement of non-violent resistance sprang up in the face of the new anti-gun firearms laws. The culture of responsible gun ownership grew despite the best efforts of these anti-gun journalists and politicians.

» Bloomberg’s Publicity Hounds Howl for Attention Following Ft. Hood Crime
Rep. Mike McCaul (R-Texas), chairman of the House of Representatives Homeland Security Committee, said, “The problem here, and with Fort Hood, the prior Nidal Hasan case, is that [victims] couldn’t defend themselves because they were not allowed to carry weapons.” If Bloomberg could be forced to respond to that simple fact, we’d almost be happy for the media to take him up on his desperate attempt to stand again in the anti-gunners’ spotlight.
The State Department has no idea what happened to $6 billion used to pay its contractors.
In a special “management alert” made public Thursday, the State Department’s Inspector General Steve Linick warned “significant financial risk and a lack of internal control at the department has led to billions of unaccounted dollars over the last six years.

A man sits holding a cup of coffee in a restaurant. He drops the cup and it cracks. Everyone around him berates him for his thoughtless stupidity.
Then a second man enters and after delivering a fine speech on the virtues of making this into the best restaurant that it can be, begins smashing all the cups and then the plates. He overturns the tables, tears down the curtains, breaks the lights, tumbles all the food to the floor and sets the whole place on fire.
The first man was named George. The second man was named Barack.
» Obama Cancels Tomahawk Missile, Spends $400K on Camel Sculpture in Pakistan
Obama is tossing out the A-10, the Hellfire and the Tomahawk missile. In the future, we won’t win wars with hard power. We’ll do it with soft power camel sculptures.
…
The title “Camel Contemplating Needle” would suggest that the reference here is Christian, rather than Muslim. But hey it’s a camel. Pakistan is a Muslim country and Muslims are not fond of realistic depictions of living things. But who cares about the details. Let’s have another three cups of tea.Meanwhile US Marines in Afghanistan are being denied hot meals. So that diplomats can buy themselves a camel statue to impress Pakistanis …

» Mr. Obama, maybe folks are mad because you’re a liar
by ‘March 31st’ you mean ‘sometime in April,’ and by ‘deadline’ you mean ‘suggestion which is subject to change.’
And, obviously, by ‘enrolled’ you mean ‘people who have filled some information out on a website.’
And by ’7.1 million’ you mean ‘probably like 858 thousand or something.’
In your speech on Tuesday, when you said that Obamacare is ‘the law’ and ‘it’s here to stay,’ you really meant that Obamacare is ‘a fluid and constantly adjusted set of unconstitutional decrees, which can be imposed or withdrawn by the Executive Branch at any point, for any reason, up to 21 times and counting.’ And by ‘here to stay,’ you actually meant to say that ‘most of it is neither here nor staying, because you don’t want America to feel the full brunt of it until after the midterm elections.’

» It’s Easy! Steps To a Do-It Yourself Eco-Crisis
Since “the rise of the oceans began to slow and our planet began to heal” (not to mention the long, cold winter, some failed predictive models, and Niagara Falls freezing solid… twice) we will need to find our next environment scare. It just won’t do for us to have nothing to panic about.
The good news is, we already know where to look. It’s simple. Just study the enviro-scares of days gone by, copy their playbook, and get back in the game with a new-and-improved panic.
Then it’s just a matter of certifying specialized experts to authenticate it, lining up lobbyists to hijack (sorry … “improve”) policy, mobilizing some (very lucrative) “charity” groups, set up specialized research grants and (for bonus points) cash in on the business side with products or services that just happen to tie in and profit from the original scare. (Right, Algore?)

You need villains to punish, behaviour to censure, virtues to reward (enter: government carrots and sticks where money will change hands as fines and/or grants). Companies that play along will get advantages with preferential laws or tax structures. Those that refuse can be buried in red tape by new, specialized government departments.Let’s try it out. The old narrative with polar bears in the open water isn’t working anymore, since there is now enough ice that you could skate to Russia. But wait! Seals! Everybody loves seals!
If ice is frozen TOO solid (vague, subjective statement), how shall the poor seal come up for air (emotion)? The ice caps are too frozen! Somebody save the seals! (Narrative, Moral Imperative)
The Republican Party can learn to talk to poor whites or it can learn to speak Spanish. And we all know what the GOP consultant class wants to do. It wants the same social setup as Mexico for the rest of the country. It has that in common with the Democratic Party.
Islamists aim to shut down a documentary by Muslims about honor violence.
…
Victims of honor crimes are silenced. Victims of honor crimes are shamed. Victims of honor crimes are made pariahs. And, often, victims of honor crimes are extinguished. This week, Honor Diaries, a documentary focusing on the global manifestations of honor violence, was itself silenced, when two American universities — the University of Michigan at Dearborn and the University of Illinois in Chicago — canceled planned screenings. With this act of censorship, the movie has become a metaphor for its message. Just like the women and girls it portrays, the movie has been silenced and its progenitors shamed.
…
If a country as religiously restrictive and theocratic as Saudi Arabia can tolerate educational and social campaigns exposing the violence against women and girls, why in a country as robust as the United States are Muslim groups permitted to stifle public discourse in the academic sphere? The answer is that an underlying but easily spied agenda is dominating the conversation. Portraying American Muslims as a victimized, besieged group is politically useful to extremist groups despite the documented facts to the contrary: American Muslims are affluent, upwardly mobile, and empowered.
» CAIR’s Jihad against Honor Diaries
The purpose of Honor Diaries is to empower women by shining a light on the hardships they endure — including “honor” killings (i.e., murders over the perception of having brought shame to the family by violating Islamic norms), beatings, genital mutilation, forced marriage — particularly of young girls – and restrictions on movement, education, and economic opportunity. The film highlights authentic Muslim moderates struggling against the dead-end of Islamic supremacism.
So naturally, the Council on American–Islam Relations (CAIR) does not want you to see it.
