» Oh, good God. Obamacare originated in a throwaway line for a speech??

Could it be true? Could this anti-constitutional monstrosity of a bill, which was rammed down the throats of a nation that didn’t want it and still doesn’t want it and which is already doing untold damage to our healthcare and the economy, have been born of nothing more than a need for an applause line?

According to Politico, that’s exactly what happened …

… this is the domestic version of Obama’s Syrian red line, something tossed off with no prior thought to the consequences.

Except Syria was stopped. With Obamacare, we’re stuck with the bill for his intellectual shallowness.

Next time you and your team have a bright idea, Mr. President — sit on it!

» Democratic Party Loves Ill-Informed Voters

“Less than one-third of eighth-graders can identify the historical purpose of the Declaration of Independence, and it’s right there in the name. … The more I read and the more I listen, the more apparent it is that our society suffers from an alarming degree of public ignorance.”

This is good news for the left.

» The Roots of Obama’s Indecision

Obama was firing commanders for the same reason that he was unable to make wartime decisions.

He had become infamous for dithering over every conflict, demanding a countless stream of alternative plans, poring over everything, postponing a decision, and then like a student diving into a report at the last minute, making an abrupt and often disastrous final decision.

Given a clear political orientation to follow, Obama will try to see any program through, no matter how strong the opposition or how destructive the results. It is only when necessity is at odds with dogma that he is unable to reach a decision.

Obama is dogma-ridden. Where Bush was a pragmatist trying to do what worked; he needs to follow a party line. Like the Chinese rocket scientist consulting Mao’s Little Red Book to decide what to do next; he needs the political guidance of the left to come to a decision on anything.

» SCALLYWAG: Kerry to Sign UN Arms Treaty, Our Bill of Rights Be Damned

The administration is wasting precious time trying to sign away our laws to the global community and unelected U.N. bureaucrats

At first, I thought that calling Kerry a scallywag was an insult to scallywags. But I reckon it depends on your definition of scallywag.
Urban Dictionary defines it like this:

1. A person who is known to be a treacherous lying son-of-a-bitch, and usually smells bad.

oki doki, scallywag it is.

» The Disconnect

A lot of conservatives remember rallying for Bush against McCain in 2000. They remember McCain’s attacks on them during the Bush years. They remember being told they had to suck it up and support McCain in 2008. They rallied and he lost and he went right back to dismissing them. They rallied in 2010, were credited with taking back the House, then blamed ever after for whenever anything bad happened to the GOP.

Now they see a fighter in Ted Cruz. And they see a whole group of Republicans and outside allies trying to get the activists and Cruz to shut up.

But they won’t shut up.

It is perfectly reasonable for Republicans in Washington to feel under siege from the grassroots. They are. Cruz has given a lot of downcast souls who checked out after November’s election a reason to re-engage. Conservatives who checked out in November and are now checking back in made one mistake ….

From the comments:

Rand Paul said yesterday afternoon that despite serious disagreements about tactics, he believed everyone in the GOP caucus sincerely wanted to end ObamaCare, I’m not sure at that point he’d heard John McCain’s defense of the 2009 ObamaCare bill deliberations as fair and open, or McCain’s statement that the American people endorsed ObamaCare by re-electing Barack Obama

The demands of tea party types for fiscal discipline and a return to Constitutional principles puts Republican legislators in a difficult position, and it makes them angry.

Time is short. Do we have time to play nice?

I do however consider this a ‘wheat’ vs ‘chaff’ moment. Some fought while others wanted to wimp out. We dont want wimps as leaders. We want LEADERS WHO FIGHT.

… most Republicans are too stupid to notice that Democrats are walking around with a gigantic glass jaw. Democrats must not be able to believe their dumb luck. Instead of hitting our glass jaw, Republicans have decided to attack Ted Cruz!

instead of attacking Obamacare and the breathtaking hypocrisy of the Democrats over this massively unpopular law, far too many Republicans have been spending their time attacking Ted Cruz. (Why didn’t we see one-tenth as much venom directed at Sen. Marco Rubio for trying to give the Democrats 30 million new voters with amnesty as we have toward Cruz for trying to defund Obamacare?)

» Cruz Quotes Dr. Suess During ObamaCare Filibuster

Expert: Dr. Seuss would be ‘offended’

What’s even more of a joke is that there’s a “Dr. Seuss expert” in the first place….

» RNC Fundraises Off Ted Cruz
Won’t fight with him. Won’t even stand with him.
But will use his name and his fight to raise funds.
I never realized how expensive it is – being a pussy.

» The Torch Should Pass From The McCains To The Cruzes

Sen. Ted Cruz’s marathon filibuster against ObamaCare should be a turning point for the Republican Party. If its younger, non-establishment leaders don’t take over, it could — disastrously — spell third party.

Where were “old guard” Senate Republicans as Cruz gave his heart on the Senate floor for nearly a full day? They were snoozing, counting the sheep they so closely identify with, instead of standing with Cruz and his allies, like Mike Lee of Utah, Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma, Rand Paul of Kentucky and Jeff Sessions of Alabama.
Cruz wasn’t long off the floor before Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., a war hero, raised a white flag in one of the most disgraceful Senate speeches ever delivered.

» Starting today, PopularScience.com will no longer accept comments on new articles. Here’s why.

… commenters shape public opinion; public opinion shapes public policy; public policy shapes how and whether and what research gets funded–you start to see why we feel compelled to hit the “off” switch.

Why yes! I do see. When it comes to shaping public opinion about policy based on ‘settled science’ (like the global warming hoax) the settled scientists (like Popular Science) insist that only they are allowed to do said shaping. They are the only ones that should be heard. They will decide what research and what industry gets – or doesn’t get – funding and which laws will be created and enforced.
Settled Science shall not be questioned by lowlife, commonsense-grounded serfdom.

A politically motivated, decades-long war on expertise has eroded the popular consensus on a wide variety of scientifically validated topics. Everything, from evolution to the origins of climate change, is mistakenly up for grabs again. Scientific certainty is just another thing for two people to “debate” on television

Scientific certainty!? That’s what Einstein ignored.

Whoever undertakes to set himself up as a judge of Truth and Knowledge is shipwrecked by the laughter of the gods.

~~ via Black & Right : Pussies Of The Day

… liberals don’t like defending their superior ideas and thus almost always seek to shut down anyone who has the nerve to disagree with them

He have to implement it to find out how it works … or doesn’t work

The Washington, D.C. Obamacare exchange announced on Wednesday it will not be ready on October 1 to calculate the taxpayer-funded subsidies people can receive to purchase health insurance. It will also be unable to determine Medicare eligibility.

» Obamacare punishes both marriage and work with thousands of dollars in a year in penalties

… several “bugs” in Obamacare: (a) it is now extremely profitable for married couples to divorce; and (b) families making as little as $46,000 a year can face instant tax penalties of $10,000 if they earn a single dollar too much.

The more we find out what is in this law (now that we passed it, Nancy), the more we can conclude that Obamacare is the work of the devil. It is antithetical not only to America’s history and traditions, but also to Western civilization itself.

» Another Obamacare “glitch” to leave “500,000 children without coverage… cost[ing] some families thousands of dollars”

A “family glitch” in the 2010 health care law threatens to cost some families thousands of dollars in health insurance costs and leave up to 500,000 children without coverage, insurance and health care analysts say.

That can make a huge difference; the Kaiser Family Foundation said an average plan for an individual is about $5,600, but it goes up to $15,700 for families.
