The history of “stand your ground” laws goes back to English law during the Middle Ages when the King claimed that he was the only person authorized to take the life of another man. The concept of self-defense was unknown, and was not accepted in court. As long as the prosecution could prove that a man took another’s life, conviction was mandatory.
As English law developed, the concept of self-defense began to be understood, but the defendant always had the obligation to retreat. The only exception that was allowed was if the defendant was in his home at the time of the attack, the so-called “castle doctrine”.
why would Obama and his sycophants want to abolish these laws? Because they are breaking down the Second Amendment piece by piece, undermining it until it is meaningless
… make the “living Constitution” a corpse
» Again, as Farce: 2013 Events Mirror 1980
The economy is in shambles, but the president tells us to bear with him, to lower our expectations. Our relationship with Russia is worse than ever, and in the Middle East we fear rebellion by Islamic radicals.
It is not 2013, but 1980, and Ronald Reagan is running for president.
Once environmental groups crossed the Rubicon and endorsed Carter, they never looked back; today they are an arm of the Democratic Party. With them came the mainstream media, which on a host of so-called environmental issues gave up objectivity and took on the role of partisan advocates.
Undaunted, Reagan forged ahead. He slashed federal expenditures, cut taxes, and reduced regulation, including opening federal lands to the private sector to discover and develop energy. The economy bloomed. His policies of lower taxes, reduced regulatory burdens, and a return to federalism produced years of sustained economic growth. Furthermore, his aggressive energy policies — promoting federal onshore oil and gas development, unleashing America’s technological know-how to discover vast oil and gas resources in the OCS, and ensuring the production of a billion tons of coal annually — have never been equaled.
2013 is 1980 on steroids with a diet of gun powder and thumbtacks. Carter was a bumbling incompetent, (THHO)Obama is a bumbling incompetent with purpose, design and intent.
And there is no Reagan waiting to fix it … or is there?
Maybe if we quit looking for him we might see her.
The willful intellectual and moral blindness of U.S. political and military leaders to the doctrine of jihad—epitomized by John McCain—continues to engender self-destructive “solutions” to global jihad depredations, in Syria, and across the globe.
Your Senator is broke, could we have another? Please?
Yea I know, pot/kettle goose/gander etc. from North Carolina with a piece of Hagan stuck on our tarheel. But we’re gonna scrape that off, so can we make a deal?
Liberal groups, on the other hand, received more funding. Siren Womyn Empowerment Magazine, a feminist organization, received $5,100. And “UNControllables”–an anarchist group that discusses ways to fight capitalism, according to UNC’s website–received $4,000.
The College Democrats did not receive a funding cut …

Democrats received Big Labor support for Obamacare because of promises that unions would have priority access to lifeboats when the whole thing started to sink. Now, some union heads are coming to the harsh realization that they were duped, and membership is expressing their dissatisfaction … If the ILWU is upset at Obamacare’s negative effect on their “Cadillac” health plans, wait until their dream of single payer is a reality

Twelve years is a long time, though, and the best you can say about “things will never be the same” is that it’s a truism. The ordinary human tendency to relax one’s watchfulness creeps back surprisingly quickly — especially when the president of the United States implies that we can unilaterally declare a war “ended” because we’re tired of vigilance and we want to spend money on Obamacare, universal preschool and food stamps.
Thus does the law professor encounter the real world, in which promising “resets” and “flexibility” to “Vladimir” leads not to international cooperation against evil but to the opposite.
Out: The boy who cried wolf. In: The girl who cried birth control.
A whiff of elitist progressive panic is polluting the Rocky Mountain air. Polls show “moderate” Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper, who was against anti-Second Amendment gesture theater before he was for it, losing favor here. The libs’ gun-control laws (including more intrusive background checks and ammo mag limits) have driven manufacturing jobs away, made it more difficult for law-abiding gun-owners to conduct business, and done little to increase public safety. No wonder Hickenlooper has barely lifted one of his wavering, wet fingers in the wind to assist the recall targets.
Extremist liberal groups are filling the vacuum.

What could the poor guy do, he is strapped to his liberal Democrat base? These are the liberal crazies that helped him narrowly beat Congressman Allen West in 2012, and are the core of the support for Murphy’s bosses, President Obama and Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz.
When you pander to leftist whackos ya gotta sing a song once in a while: qui cum canibus concumbunt cum pulicibus surgent, Mr Murphy.
I’m told that’s Latin for “If you lie down with dogs, you get up with fleas” and sometimes the fleas want to sing a song with you. So next time bring a tamborine.
Sorry Murph, I can’t stand the itch
Now, try to imagine Allen West in the same situation:
Sadder still is that this same loyalty to Obama has likely been responsible for the media backing the drumbeat to war, and might cause otherwise anti-war “journalists” to support the President’s call for action despite them feeling it’s not necessarily in the nation’s best interest.
Wouldn’t that be ironic after them telling us for almost a decade that George W. Bush got us into Iraq on false pretenses?
uh huh, Paul Joseph Goebbels probably said the same thing.
Imagine the Crips and the Bloods, armed to the teeth by every country from Mexico to China, fighting over the ruins of California cities, and you get some idea of the glorious Syrian civil war being fought by the Brave Syrian People, most of whom at this point are about as Syrian as the Palestinians are from Palestine, in a conflict that will determine once and for all who will be ethnically cleansing whom next year.
The Syrian rebels are Sunni. The Syrian regime is Alawite, which is close enough to Shiite for government work. This isn’t some heroic battle between the people and the dictator; it’s a religious war.
If we give the right Syrian rebels the weapons, then they will win, instead of the wrong Syrian rebels. But if we don’t, then the wrong Syrian rebels will win, and even the right Syrian rebels will hate us and turn wrong, and before you know it they’ll be shooting at us with the weapons we didn’t give them.
This Syria debate is getting complicated, ain’t it? If you’re having trouble deciding, there’s two points I think are concrete.
1 – Ask what (THHO)Obama, Pelosi and Reid think, then go the other way.
2 – No matter which side wins in Syria, America will end up fighting them sooner or later.
So, how about we just sit this one out and simply kill whoever wins.

I’m sorry, but that’s funny right there.
